My story in short
by DeWandelaar ini am visiting this site for quite some time now and now i think it is time to tell something about me and my experience.
without giving away my name (i am in "fade mode"): i am from the small country they call the netherlands, the land of wooden shoes, tulips, cheese and too many inhabitants per square meter.
i am married with children and a second generation jw.

Skirts and trousers (pants if you're in the US)
by Chariklo injust what is it that the watchtower thinks is so much more modest and respectful to jehovah about wearing a skirt instead of trousers?
that is, unless you live in a culture that has trousers as the norm for women, as in india.. something today brought this to my mind.
i can't even remember what it was, but it led to thinking again about this.

Even though I've been out of the borg for 14 years I still think twice before buying a skirt or a dress! I wore pants/jeans only for years after leaving. All the dresses I now own are a lot shorter than below the knee.

I'd like to talk to some ex-JW couples
by Mad Sweeney ini know a few of the guys here started to fade and managed to bring their wives and family along on the exit.
i will be sending some of you a pm or fb message some time soon.. are there any ex-dub ladies here who managed to influence your husband to re-examine and eventually quit the borg?.
it is very difficult to get to the genuine personality of an indoctrinated jw but if anyone can do it, a loving spouse can.

Hi, I left about a year before my husband did, I didn't argue I would just give him questions that he couldn't answer or read him scriptures that contradicted what the JW's taught. Eventually he started to see the light! I must say that we were not very active by that time and the JW's had let us down on many occasions so I think it was easier for us to leave than for someone who is still very active.

I could really use some advice :(
by FifthOfNovember inokay, here's some background information.. my girlfriend is in a program at a college about 30 minutes away.
she can only come home on the weekends and i usually go over once a week to visit.
there is a guy there that she hangs out with quite a bit, she's mentioned how he is really nice and funny.

How would she react if you asked her if it was ok if you kissed another girl? I think that life is too short to hang around with people who play games with your emotions. Time to move on. If she's asking that it means they've kissed already. Do you really want to put yourself through this? Either there is trust in the relationship or there isn't. Trust is earned, has she earned yours?

Forget all of the stages: Denial, Anger, Sadness - Don't you sometimes just feel STUPID for having believed in the Organization?
by BonaFide ini know i have been through all those stages, i denied it, then i got angry, definitely sad.
months and months of this, and i still am in for my family and friends.. but sometimes i just feel stupid.
why did i ignore basic common sense for so long?

I was 8 years old when my folks became JW's Ididn't have much of a choice. I think those of us who managed to get out are rather intelligent! So many are still following their GB gods.
